Unmatched Robustness and Debris Handling Capability

A major utility in Japan was experiencing serious problems with cooling water inlet filtration at one of its high capacity power plants. The facility is located along a canal and draws its cooling intake from a harsh saltwater environment with a high concentration of algae, mussels, and debris. After repeated equipment failures, collapsed screens, and prolonged frustration with their existing debris filters (of a competitor’s design), the utility decided to conduct a comparative test to find a new supplier whose product could withstand the challenge.

A Beaudrey “W-Type” Debris Filter was compared to two competitors’ designs in an exhaustive operational test. Beaudrey’s debris filter was the only product to operate problem free while successfully filtering hundreds of pounds of oyster shells, jellyfish, algae, and other debris introduced in mass. Following the test, the utility purchased the Beaudrey “W-Type” debris filter… it has operated reliably without incident for 70,000 hours (10 years) vastly improving the plants operational effectiveness.
